Controversies in the Technical Aspects of ACL Reconstruction
Dr. Marx’s new book edited with Dr. Nakamura, Dr. Zaffagnini, and Dr. Musahl, Controversies in the Technical Aspects of ACL Reconstruction, takes an evidence-based medicine approach to discuss the existing controversies in ACL reconstructive surgery techniques. Evidence-based medicine, or when a physician uses the best available literature to assist in decision-making for a patient, aims to optimize a treatment plan for a given patient. Though there is not always an ideal answer for a specific clinical scenario, this book illustrates both sides of the dilemma in as unbiased manner as possible.Click here to find out more

He is an expert in both primary and revision ACL reconstructions using all techniques and graft sources, and is well-known for his expertise in multiligament knee reconstruction involving more than one ligament (i.e.: ACL, PCL, MCL, and/or LCL/Posterolateral Corner), having published and lectured extensively on this topic. Dr. Marx also performs arthroscopic meniscus repair, osteotomy (leg realignment), and knee joint replacement surgery in patients limited by arthritic joints. He has a special expertise in pediatric and adolescent knee problems.
Dr. Marx performs both arthroscopic and open surgical procedures of the shoulder. This includes surgery to stabilize shoulders following dislocation or trauma, with a special expertise in revision surgery for failed dislocation repairs. Dr. Marx also performs arthroscopic shoulder surgery to treat rotator cuff tears or rotator cuff tendonitis, both of which cause shoulder pain and weakness. Finally, Dr. Marx performs shoulder joint replacement surgery in patients with arthritic joints when pain and limitation of movement prevent normal shoulder function.
